Alex & Nick came to us desperately seeking a wedding videographer who could do something outside of the traditional; they wanted a short, contemporary wedding video that would be beautifully shot and creatively edited. Having seen our wedding videos on the Jumping Spider website and particularly enjoying the style of Charlotte and Johns wedding video, they booked us for their summer wedding at Notley Abbey in Oxfordshire.
This was our first wedding at Notley Abbey, the Bijou wedding venue. It's a fantastic, beautiful place in peaceful and stunning surroundings, set at the end of a majestic tree-lined driveway and close to a stream. Another incredible wedding venue to add to the list of our favourites.
The day started off with a huge downpour but thankfully this cleared up well before the wedding day truly began and once the sun broke through the day turned out to be one of the hottest of the year. Alex and Nick both got ready at Notley Abbey which enabled Matt to split his time between filming the bride and the groom getting prepared. This freed up Alexis to head over to the church where the ceremony was to take place and get some shots of the location and of the wedding guests arriving.
The style that Alex and Nick wanted for their short wedding video meant that we shot the majority of the day handheld. This makes life easier for us as wedding videographers but we'll always shoot the ceremony and speeches on tripods. Shooting the ceremony and speeches handheld is very very difficult and when a couple, as Alex and Nick did, asks for the ceremony uncut for their wedding video as well we have to shoot the whole thing on tripod. The ceremony itself was not easy to film as there was nowhere to stand in front of the couple. However a sneaky Go-Pro rigged up out of sight, whilst not ideal, helped solve this issue.
Once back at Notley Abbey we were able to concentrate on capturing the guests mingling and the lovely wedding details which were spread throughout the venue. The details were something Alex specifically wanted for her wedding video and she was delighted we managed to capture as much as we did. The rest of the day ran smoothly and we filmed some great moments during the photo session and some stunning shots of Alex and Nick as they shared some intimate moments away from the guests.
We supplied Alex and Nick with both the 10 minute wedding video and the shorter highlights film in High Definition as well as bespoke DVD's including the wedding films, ceremony uncut and speeches uncut. You can read what Alex had to say about us below. We didn't ask for any feedback...
"We just wanted to thank you once again for our wedding video we just love it so much it couldn't have been more perfect! We love everything about it and feel it captures our day perfectly! The friends and family we have shown so far have all said it's the best wedding video they have ever seen! We will be recommending you to everyone and have already passed on your details to a friend!"
